Motohiro KATSUMI handles all aspects of trademark law and practice in Japan and worldwide. He has a substantial experience on availability search, filing and prosecution of trademarks, and management of worldwide trademark portfolio. His practice also includes advising clients on enforcement and negotiation in trademark and unfair competition disputes.

Motohiro studied civil and IP laws, and obtained master's degree in Law at the Doshisha University in Kyoto. He passed examination for a Japanese Patent Attorney in 2001, and commenced his carrier for IP in 2002. He joined Aoyama in 2006, and became a partner of the firm in 2014.

He also attended the annual sessions of the Committee of Experts of the Nice Union at the WIPO on behalf of JPAA in 2019-2023, and served as a chairperson of the Trademark Committee of JPAA in 2024.

He is a member of INTA, ECTA and AIPPI.
