Hirotsugu TAKAYAMA is one of the partners of Aoyama & Partners. After graduating from Kyusyu University, he joined the pharmaceutical company, where, while working the research and development division, and the science administration section, he had the chance for engaging in the patent litigations, and recognized the importance of patens. That led him to the intellectual property world including patent.
Since then, he has been engaged in patent prosecutions and patent litigations in the field of pharmaceutical and biotechnology for about 30 years.
During the period of the time, for about eleven years he managed the intellectual property department at the pharmaceutical company as the vice president of the department, and planed and conducted IP business strategies, directed due diligences in the IP aspect in association with M&A and license-in and out of pharmaceuticals, and managed patent litigations in Japan, and ANDA litigations in the U.S. Further, he belonged to the legal affairs department in the company for about two years to handle the patent litigations spread over Japan and the European countries, and the invalidation trials in Japan in the field of pharmaceutical science.
His experiences in the company help him understand readily the expectations and requests of clients of Aoyama & Partners, and help him obtain the skills in making advice on the planning of IP strategies, the business plan with IP, and other IP matters as well as skills in patent prosecutions and IP litigations. He is always looking for better services for the clients, and making efforts to providing the clients with results that meet the expectations of the clients.
